Getting Started

The easiest way to get started with Laughing Dog is to look at the Demo project that is included in the source tree, it is a very simple Demo right now that will keep getting added to in order to show off more features as the development continues.

Setting Up a New Project

Setting up and running new project using Laughing Dog is very simple.
  1. Create your XNA Game Studio project as usual (Currently Laughing Dog has only been tested on Windows as I don't have access to a 360 right now)
  2. Add references to both 'LaughingDog.dll' and 'FarseerPhysics.dll' to your project. Both of these files can be found in the current release.
  3. Set both the 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll' and 'Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.dll' references to "Copy Local" as these are both required for the Scripting used in the engine.
  4. Add a call to "Engine.Initialise(this, graphics)" to the Initialize function in your Game1 class.
  5. Compile and run your game. If you have any problems or errors please recheck the above steps or look in the Discussions.
